Iker Casillas pretends to punch Ramos after injury nightmare

Published Add your comment

Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas made his long-awaited return to first-team action last night - though he lasted just 13 minutes.

Carlo Ancelotti plumped for the Spanish international ahead of goalkeeping rival Diego Lopez for their Champions League opener away to Galatasaray.

But Casillas' night was cut short as teammate Sergio Ramos clattered into the 32-year-old stopper after just three minutes.

Casillas carried on for another 10 minutes but eventually had to admit defeat as the rib injury sustained was deemed too severe - with Real Madid boss Ancelotti forced into making an early substitution.

The Madrid keeper was starting a match for the first time in 238 days, but Casillas refused to blame Ramos for the coming-together.

Ramos was apologetic afterwards but his Spanish colleague doesn’t seem to have held a grudge, posing for this light-hearted picture (above) on the flight home, as seen on Ramos'  personal Twitter profile.

Speaking after the game, Ancelotti confirmed that the injury to Casillas isn't serious and he expects him to return to full training with his Real Madrid teammates imminently.
