Chris Eubank Jr knocked out Alexey Ribchev in a show of demolition with a flurry of punches to gain the eleventh win of his professional career. He stood still for a good few moments before strutting into the ring and then jumping the ropes before eyeing up his opponent.
The first round started with Eubank standing dead still in his corner. As soon as Ribchev approached, however, Eubank threw a straight jab out and then begun the ever-more recognisable swooping pre-shot positioning.
The second round saw Ribchev on the offensive too, landing a few shots on Eubank in perhaps his biggest test yet. The fight looked evenly matched towards the end of the round before Eubank counter-punched to regain some assurance.
In the third round, a ferocious left-right combination floored Ribchev with more punches then making the future look bleak. Referee Howard Foster stopped the fight in at 1.45 in the third as Ribchev was looking too dazed to continue, ending his 23 fight run without a stoppage.
I do feel that the fight was stopped too early, however Eubank was heading towards certain victory and Ribchev was saved from a TKO.
Eubank Jr will be fighting on the undercard for the upcomingHaye Vs Fury fight, which will surely great exposure for the man who has a legion of fans waiting to discover him.
