Tennessee Titans safety Bernard Pollard has been fined $42,000 for a forceful hit on Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson, according to the player himself.
The incident in question, which involved Pollard causing a painful concussion after bundling Johnson out of bounds having arrived slightly late to attempt to break up a pass, occurred in the fourth quarter of the Texans' 30-24 victory over their divisional rivals at Reliant Stadium in Houston on Sunday.
It was unclear whether Pollard would face any subsequent action for the 'tackle' that forced Johnson to leave the field, but he confirmed via his Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon that he had indeed been subject to a fine from the National Football League.
"So @nfl said I did "everything right" but 42k later I still get fined. Wow! It's called football but they want 2 hand touch. #TitanUp#," said the evidently disgruntled former Texan.
Rookie DeAndre Hopkins was the hero for Houston on the night, with his three-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Matt Schaub securing a win for the Texans during an anxious overtime period.
