Wayne Rooney made Manchester United history last night after scoring his 200th goal for the club in their 4-2 Champions League victory against Bayer Leverkusen - and now he's exclusively revealed to GiveMeSport his favourite ever strike for the Red Devils.
Bursting onto the Old Trafford scene as a youngster in 2004, Rooney announced himself to the world with a stunning hat-trick on his debut in the Champions League against Fenerbahce.
The 27-year-old striker told GiveMeSport: "To complete a hat-trick with a free-kick on my debut was something else. After already scoring two I just felt confident I could find the back the net".
Now with 200 Manchester United goals under his belt, Rooney has taken a trip down memory lane and relived some of his personal favourites.
And the Manchester United star picked out his stunning overhead kick against fierce rivals Manchester City back in 2011 as the best goal he has ever scored for the reigning Premier League champions.
Rooney's acrobatic effort in 2011 not only helped his side to a 2-1 win over the Citizens and put them on course for the title, but was also later voted as the greatest goal ever scored in the Premier League.
"My favourite goal has to be the overhead against Manchester City," he told GiveMeSport.
"It was a massive game for both teams and to score in that way was something I will never forget, the feeling was unbelievable."
Rooney also picked out his sensational volley against Newcastle as the second-best goal of the 200 he has scored for Manchester United.
The phenomenal outside-of-the-boot strike, which left Newcastle United keeper Shay Given rooted to the spot and drew gasps from the Old Trafford crowd, sent the Red Devils on their way to a 2-1 victory back in 2005.
"A close second is my volley against Newcastle," he continued. "I remember being unhappy about a decision, then when the ball has come out to me I just hit it as hard as I could on the volley and caught it perfect."
Sir Bobby Charlton holds the current club record with 249 goals for Manchester United, but with Wayne Rooney at the milestone of 200 and with his best years ahead of him, the striker could yet surpass the Red Devils legend.
