The summer transfer window was busy for Premier League clubs as spending hit an all time high of £630 million paid for players throughout all of the Premier League clubs; but which team bought the best player during the course of the summer?

5. Jesus Navas

Jesus Navas signed for Manchester City early in the summer transfer window. The right winger adds a new style of attack with width that City have not had in previous seasons and this could prove useful as they look to reclaim their Premier League title from their neighbours United. He created the most chances from open play (71) out of anyone in La Liga last season and the Spanish international looks a good acquisition.

4. Alvaro Negredo

Alvaro Negredo was another early signing for Manchester City and he seems to be a strong and clinical signing. He scored 26 La Liga goals last season and has already scored two Premier League goals this season, proving he means business and is ready to compete to get into the City first team.

3. Paulinho

Paulinho impressed during the Confederations Cup and looks a very good signing into a physical Spurs side. He can play both a deep or attacking role in midfield and is very versatile. He has been a regular starter so far this season for Spurs and I am sure he will go on to impress even more.

2. Christian Eriksen

Another signing for Spurs. He made his debut against Norwich last weekend and looked impressive, he seemed to be the perfect way to link the midfield to the lone forward of Roberto Soldado. He already has a Premier League assist to his name and should be a great player in a strong side. As a bonus he has plenty of European experience with his previous club Ajax and many international caps for Denmark.

1. Mesut Ozil

Here he is. The standout signing of the transfer window. Arsenal have grabbed a supreme player in the form of one of the world's best playmakers. He has 47 La Liga assists in his career and already grabbed a Premier League assist against Sunderland last weekend and could have easily had many more if Theo Walcott could have finished the opportunities he was presented with. He looks a very good signing and will be one of the best players in the Premier League over the coming season.
