Red Bull Salzburg defender Martin Hinteregger is being tracked by Premier League champions Manchester United, according to talkSPORT.
The 21-year-old centre-back, who recently won a call-up to the senior Austria squad, has played for the Austrian Bundesliga leaders for seven years after initially featuring for the club's youth teams.
Although the defender is contracted at the Red Bull arena until 2017, talkSPORT believe that the club may be willing to listen to offers of around £6 million for Hinteregger.
United, who secured an impressive 4-2 win over Sami Hyypia's Bayer Leverkusen in their Champions League opener on Tuesday evening, have attracted fierce criticism from many over a perceived failure to make significant additions to the squad during the transfer window.
New manager David Moyes endured a somewhat difficult first summer in the job and, having made ultimately unsuccessful bids for the likes of Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas and Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera, was only able to bolster his ranks with the £27.5 million deadline day capture of combative Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
