Despite their considerable wealth and ambition to challenge for every competition they enter, Manchester City have a surprisingly small squad.

Manuel Pellegrini's official Premier League squad includes just 24 names, one short of the permitted 25. Among that squad are Alex Nimely and Dedryck Boyata, neither of whom are likely to force their way into the starting 11. While Matija Nastasic is missing off the list, he's still eligible due to being only 20 years old.

What the City squad may lack in depth, they certainly make up for in quality with Nimely being the only person on the 24-man list that does not have at least one senior international cap.

Unfortunately for some, 24 into 11 just does not go, meaning certain players will be making themselves at home on the bench this season.

We take a look at a selection of those who would benefit leaving the Etihad Stadium in search for more regular football.
