Liverpool will be looking to bounce back from the draw away at Swansea City on Monday as they take on Southampton on Saturday at Anfield.
The Reds will be without influential Brazilian Philippe Coutinho who suffered a shoulder injury against Swansea, while Luis Suarez will be serving the final game of his ten-match ban for biting last season.
As for the Saints, they will be looking to score their first goal from open play in the Premier League this season, and also hit back from a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to West Ham last weekend.
Both these teams have struggled to find the back of the net with Liverpool only scoring five goals in their first four games and Southampton just two.
Despite that, both teams have also been very good defensively, with Saints and Liverpool only conceding two goals each so far in 2013/14.
For Liverpool, the loss of Coutinho could pose a problem as the Anfield team looked much less potent going forward following the Brazilian's departure on Monday.
Iago Aspas will likely be called up to replace him, though most fans may want to see Jordan Henderson in that role just behind lead striker Daniel Sturridge.
Meanwhile, Southampton I would expect an unchanged side from the one that drew with West Ham last week. Only the heroics of keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen prevented the home team from gaining three points.
Midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is the top scorer so far with Rickie Lambert also posing a threat up front.
Overall however I am expecting another three points for Liverpool while the loss of Coutinho is a major blow for the Reds, Sturridge remains in great form, and I think the Reds have a little too much going forward with Victor Moses also posing a great threat.
My prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Southampton
