Tottenham will go looking for the perfect start to their Europa League campaign tonight as they take on Group K minnows Tromso in their curtain-raiser at White Hart Lane.

Under Andre Villas-Boas, Spurs have taken the lesser of Europe's cup competition more seriously than in years gone by, and that approach looks set to continue tonight with the Portuguese expected to name a strong line-up.

Aaron Lennon, Nacer Chadli and Etienne Capoue have all been ruled out through injury, while Villas-Boas has hinted that record summer buy Erik Lamela may get his first start.

Spurs have favoured the 4-2-3-1 in recent games but are unlikely to deploy two deeper midfielders against limited opposition.

He may instead opt for a move to the 4-3-3 he preferred at Porto.

Predicted Tottenham starting line-up: Friedel, Walker, Dawson, Kaboul, Rose; Sandro, Paulinho, Holtby, Lamela, Sigurdsson, Soldado
