Football pundit Jamie Redknapp has queried why Juan Mata is not being used by Jose Mourinho.
The former Liverpool and Tottenham star is as bemused as the rest of the footballing world when it comes to the Spain international's omission from Chelsea's starting line-up.
Redknapp thinks that the Blues are in for a tough season if they do not field the Spanish playmaker in future games, as he has a magnificent influence over the way they create chances.
Mourinho had a disappointing return to the Champions League when Chelsea were defeated 2-1 at home to FC Basel. This loss ended the Blues 10-year run at home without a defeat in the Champions League qualifiers.
Chelsea have also had a stuttering start to their Premier League campaign, with a loss last weekend against Everton and a drab draw at Old Trafford.
Redknapp revealed to Sky Sports that he was unsure if 'the Special One' knew what his best starting XI was.
"Chelsea are nervous. I think Jose is searching for his team. After their defeat to Basel in the Champions League on Wednesday, I questioned whether Mourinho knew his best starting XI," he said.
He went on to say: "If you look at the players they've got and the opportunities he's got to change it, I can't understand - and neither can anyone in football - why Juan Mata isn't starting."
40-year-old Redknapp also stated that Fulham should be confident going into this weekend's west London derby after the Blues' string of disappointing results.
"Fulham have never won a Premier League game at Chelsea, but if there was ever a time to do it, it's on Saturday," Redknapp said.
