With it's awesome blend of attacking talent and traditionally uncompromising physicality, the Premier League is arguably the best division in world football.

While the whole league is undeniably stocked full of superb players, the ultimate aim for many teams is often to secure a place in the top four.

As well as bringing far higher financial reward, finishing in these four spots also offer the chance to compete on perhaps the grandest club stage of them all - the Champions League.

Traditionally these places were mostly occupied by the so-called 'big four' - Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. Recently, however, Manchester City have forced themselves into the equation and the Reds have fallen somewhat by the wayside.
