David Moyes has admitted that he will carry on demanding more from Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
Moyes revealed that he wants Rooney to improve even more on his spectacular recent form.
The 27-year-old striker has returned after nearly three weeks out after he sustained a nasty gash on his head after a training ground clash with United teammate Phil Jones.
The England international has returned in magnificent form - having netted a double in United's midweek Champions League win over Bayer Leverkusen.
Rooney secured his name in Manchester United history books by scoring his 200th goal for the club. The Old Trafford favourite became only the fourth player in United history to join the exclusive 200-goal club.
Moyes told reporters: "I think we just go step by step.
"If he could score another two goals at the weekend that would be the next step forward wouldn't it?"
Moyes commented on Rooney's spectacular current form but stated that there is always room for improvement.
"He's played really well and we want him to maintain that.
"If anything I'm asking him to step up again. I want him to keep getting better," added the 50-year-old manager.
Rooney will be looking to increase his goal tally as United make the short trip to the Etihad Stadium this weekend to face arch-rivals Manchester City.
