Jesse Lingard scored four goals on his Birmingham City debut in just 51 minutes as Blues hammered Sheffield Wednesday at St Andrew's.
The on-loan Manchester United striker became Birmingham's top scorer this season after bagging three goals in 13 minutes, completing the quickest-hat trick seen in the Championship this season.
His first goal came from Chris Kirkland's parry of a Chris Burke effort that was easily steered home by the 20-year-old. Nine minutes later and Lingard doubled his tally; latching onto a pass by Wade Elliot and again beating the Owls' goalkeeper.
After 33 minutes he became a Blues hero in an instant, smashing an effort into the far corner from the edge of the box. Lingard bagged his fourth six minutes into the second half by firing home from close range.
He improved his reputation over the summer by finishing as Manchester United's highest pre-season scorer after finding the net four times in as many appearances with goals against A-League All Stars, Yokohama F. Marinos and Kitchee SC.
Although 19-years-old Lingard only joined Birmingham on a one-month youth loan, Blues manager Lee Clark will surely be keen to extend the deal if his new striker continues to impress after he fired himself into the record books earlier today.
