Chelsea star Juan Mata could see his career go down the drain if the Spanish international remains at Stamford Bridge under new manager Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea's Player of the Year for the last two campaigns has not witnessed the greatest of starts in a Chelsea shirt this campaign, mainly due to the lack of game time the player is receiving from Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho spoke about the 25-year-old, saying: "Juan has to learn to play the way I want to play. He has to be more consistent, has to participate more when the team loses the ball. It's not his fault, it's just the consequence of the way he has played in the last years."
Mourinho is wanting Mata to switch his style of play to fit with the Portuguese's philosophy and how he wants Chelsea to play. This is encouraging Mata to play a different type of football, different from what he played for the last two seasons at Chelsea.
However, if Mata were to return to Spain; or any club in that matter, he could be able to play the style he wants to as he has done previously, which could see the Spanish midfielder recover his form.
On the other hand, if Mata were to remain at Chelsea he would be chasing first-team action and will struggle to seek time on the pitch, something he is too good for.
