Tottenham Hotspurs may have already spent over £100 million since the start of summer but they are still keen on a good bargain as they are set to sign Ciprian Marica for nothing, according to the Mirror.
The Romanian striker Marica was released by German side Schalke in the summer.
Striker-light Premier League duo Arsenal and West Ham United were interested in the former Stuttgart and Shakhtar Donetsk man but their London rivals look to have beaten them to his signature.
Spurs coach Andre Villas-Boas is looking to bolster his attacking options despite having Roberto Soldado, Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor competing for one starting spot.
However AVB is looking to get Adebayor and his reported £100,000-a-week wages out of White Hart Lane as well as youngster Harry Kane.
The Togo striker has been forced to train with the Tottenham youth teams to compound his removal from the first-team.
Marica's availability has alerted top clubs around Europe even though he has never managed more than 10 goals a season in domestic football but has notched 22 goals for Romania for whom he has captained in the past.
Marica is predominantly a striker but can also play on the wing which could come in handy as the North Londoners will be expecting to compete on a number of fronts this year, including the Europa League.
Tottenham are fourth in the Premier League but could go top today with a win against Cardiff City.
