Arsenal’s right-back Carl Jenkinson recently stated that he felt Welsh teammate Aaron Ramsey was the best midfielder in the world.

This was dismissed without any thought by almost everyone, but in many ways I agree.

Signed in 2008 from Cardiff City, Ramsey has started this season in blistering form, with seven goals in eight competitive games for Arsenal so far. If this form continues, the title as the best midfielder in the world will surely be discussed.

Ramsey suffered a horrific injury at the hands of Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross a couple of season's ago, and didn't fully recover for a long time, but now could be his time. With fantastic vision, great close control and an eye for goal (at least so far this season) is Ramsey the best.

Arsene Wenger has shown belief in him so far this season, playing him in all five Premier League games, despite newly signed Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla also playing in the attacking midfield role. Often on the receiving end of flack over his lack of goals, Ramsey has proved his critics wrong so far this season, but will this carry on?

While this could be a bit of good luck, Ramsey has been showing signs of maturity. After making 47 appearances last season for the Gunners, the Welshman has looked more confident and more experienced.

To conclude, Ramsey looks like a different player this season. Premier League defences: be worried.
