Has the WWE Women's Division finally found their saviour?

At the start of the summer the WWE Women’s division looked to be in rapid decline, Beth Phoenix, one of the best female role models had departed and all that was left and was being utilised, were the likes of Aksana, The Bella Twins, Kaitlyn, Rosa Mendez and Layla.

Gone were the steel cage main event matches between the likes of Lita, Trish Stratus, Victoria, Molly Holly and Jazz, and now WWE’s PG era has welcomed more models instead of wrestlers and made quite possibly the biggest mistake of all when they retired the WWE Women’s Championship in favour of the new 21st Century Divas title.

The definition of Diva is: a woman regarded as temperamental or haughty.

This is what Wrestling had become, this is what we were watching, prima donna’s wandering around thinking they had made it when they couldn't even hold their own in a sanctioned match.

But thankfully WWE found a shining light, at the time she was busy being Raw’s General Manager, but thanks to Vickie Guerrero taking offence to her on-screen relationship with John Cena and evidentially many months in training AJ Lee has become what many people are calling the future of the women’s division.

The current Diva’s champion can hold her own in the ring with her fantastic Black Widow submission finisher, as well as being able to sell all of her opponent’s moves to a T. She is the best kind of unselfish wrestler and the women who are their now, need to take note.

Her promo a few weeks ago on Raw may have started a pointless rivalry that led to her retaining her title at Night of Champions, but the real story is her mic skills, WWE have never had a Diva so good in the ring and so educated on the Mic.

She has even become somewhat of a fashion icon with many girls (myself included) creating their own image based on her fashion. Her knee high converse boots are at an all-time high in sales as her cool/nerd style becomes the must have fashion of the summer.

The days of Mickie v Melina and Trish V Lita may be over, but if WWE can keep hold of this shining light, I feel there is a future for the women’s division after all.
