Arsenal are considering renewing their interest in Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema as their hunt for striking reinforcements continues, reports the Daily Star.
Arsene Wenger was keen to sign a striker in the summer transfer window but missed out despite showing interest in Gonzalo Higuain, Wayne Rooney and bidding for Luis Suarez.
Arsenal are now left with just Olivier Giroud as their only proven striker in the squad, forcing Wenger to birng Nicklas Bendtner in from the cold.
However, despite insisting that Bendtner still has a chance to resurrect his Arsenal career, the French tactician is keen to reinforce his options when the transfer window reopens.
There are now suggestions that Wenger will go back to Real Madrid in the hope that he can bring Benzema to the Emirates in another mega money move.
The Daily Star is reporting that life has taken a turn for worse for Benzema in the Spanish capital and he is eager to secure a move away as a result.
Despite starting every game so far for Real Madrid, scoring four goals, Benzema has been the target of the Real Madrid boo boys, who feel he isn't putting in a satisfactory level of effort.
He was most recently targeted in their weekend game against Getafe as the fans booed and whistled each time he touched the ball. Benzema was eventually substituted with 10 minutes to go as whistles echoed around the Bernabeu.
There are also growing reports in Spain that he is losing the support of manager Carlo Ancelotti, making an imminent exit all the more likely.
