Manchester United loan stars go goal crazy

Published Add your comment

On a weekend where Manchester United suffered a chastening defeat, it will be at least a modicum of comfort knowing that the future looks bright as a host of on-loan players hit the back of the net.

Youngster Jesse Lingard was undoubtedly the star of the weekend in the Championship, bagging four goals on his debut for Birmingham City against Sheffield Wednesday, including a 13-minute hat-trick.

Outcast Federico Macheda joined Doncaster Rovers on a month-long loan last week and also made an instant impact by bagging a brace against Nottingham Forest.

It doesn't stop there either - Manchester United prospect Nick Powell scored one and set up another for Wigan against Ipswich.

Overseas and Red Devils' forward Angelo Henriques was on the scoresheet in Real Zaragoza's 2-1 win over Real Madrid Castilla.

So while Manchester United are licking their wounds following their pasting at the hands of rivals Manchester City, they should take comfort in the fact that the kids are alright. If only could you win anything with them....
