Ryan Giggs confronts official during Manchester derby hammering

Ryan Giggs angrily confronted fourth official Michael Oliver at half-time during Manchester United's 4-1 derby thrashing against Manchester City on Sunday, according to the Daily Mail.

Giggs, now a player/coach at Manchester United, wasn't part of the match day squad but was on the bench as part of his new role and was reportedly angry with what he saw during the first-half of the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.

According to the Daily Mail, the Welshman took exception to the defending of Manchester City's Matija Nastasic, who was booked in the game by referee Howard Webb when he flattened Chris Smalling.

The paper reports that Giggs yelled at Oliver in the players' tunnel: "Get a grip of him. Man up and do your job."

The Mail adds that Giggs is unlikely to face action over his comments, but onlookers were stunned at his anger as the Red Devils stumbled to a humbling defeat.

An early strike from Sergio Aguero handed the home side the advantage before Yaya Toure landed a decisive blow on the stroke of half-time.

Aguero added his second just after the break, and Samir Nasri made it 4-0 just three minutes later. Wayne Rooney scored a late consolation goal with a sublime free-kick.

Manchester United will have the chance to get back to winning ways when they take on Liverpool in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday.
