Top five: January transfer targets
Which signings could re-enforce title challenges
The summer transfer window closed less than a month ago, yet already managers are looking forward to the January transfer window at who they should open the cheque book for, to help them win the title.
All these teams have a realistic chance of winning the title, but who will be the one signing that could win the title for his team?
Manchester City - Alexis Sanchez
The Chilean winger could be a star at City.
Since his 26 million euro move to Barcelona, he has definitely not placed as well as many expected to. With Pellegrini opting to stick with the 4-2-3-1 system used by his predecessor, City need a wide man that is strong and fast, two attributes Sanchez has in abundance.
He could improve the Citizens a lot.
Manchester United - Luka Modric
A player that was linked with Manchester United a year ago, until he chose to leave for Madrid.
Since that move, Modric has been a bit part player at the Bernabeu and United again expressed interest in signing him this summer.
The player himself reportedly said that he was willing to make a move to the Manchester club.
One position that United are weak in at the moment is the creative midfield role which Modric would fit in to nicely. Rooney is currently filling that void, but he is a natural born striker who needs to be scoring, not creating goals.
Many United fans were severely disappointed that the croatian magician did not make the move this summer and will be hoping that he will be there come January.
Chelsea - Karim Benzema
The long list of failed Chelsea strikers appears to be growing.
Fernando Torres being the highest profile flop but the likes of Ba and Moses have also failed to shine.
Chelsea's most recent purchase, Samuel Eto'o, is already looking to be the biggest flop of all.
The only decent striker they appear to possess this weekend scored the winning goal for Everton, as Lukaku is currently on loan.
However, Karim Benzema could be the answer to Chelsea's problems. The French International practically guarentees goals, with an impressive 91 goals in 188 games with Real Madrid.
Whether the Spanish club would be willing to sell is another matter, but Abramovich does have a history of being able to persuade the world's best players to his club.
Arsenal - Christian Benteke
With Olivier Giroud seeminly firing on all cylinders, many Arsenal fans may wonder what the need for another striker is.
The simple matter is that their reserve forward is Nicholas Bendtner, who has a less than impressive record for the Gunners.
Benteke however, is pace and power personified.
He is the ultimate striker with the ability to control the ball, finish well and use his pace to get behind the defense. He is reportedly desperate to play in the Champions League and with an impressive 23 in 39 games last season, he would improve this Arsenal team.
Liverpool - Cristian Tello
Liverpool have a fine team currently, but lack strength in depth.
Out wide is area that Liverpool appear to lack in.
With neither Sturridge or Suarez willing to play on the wings, Liverpool could do with a winger who also gets goals.
Cristian Tello is a young Spanish winger currently playing for Barcelona. The 22 year old is a young star in the making who may be willing to move away to look for first team places. He could be a world class winger in the future, and would do a great deal to help Liverpool improve on their current position
