Tottenham Hotspurs defender Kyle Naughton has claimed that he always thought his side would score against Cardiff City in their 1-0 win.
The newly promoted Welsh side looked to have claimed a great point against the big spending Spurs having been under the cosh for most of the game.
However, in the last minute of injury time, one of the big money signings, Paulinho, popped up in the box to ensure that the London club move second in the Premier League table, only goal difference prevented them from leapfrogging north London rivals Arsenal.
The Brazilian's goal was the visitors 29th shot of the game and their 20th on target as they looked like they would be denied.
Despite the late showing, the young full-back Naughton claimed the victory was never in doubt, in his mind.
The 24-year-old told the official Tottenham website: “I just felt we were going to score a goal, perhaps not in the 93rd minute, but I thought we would score,”
“When the ball hit the back of the net the fans erupted, the players erupted, everyone went mad! We kept going and got the winner in the end.”
Naughton has reclaimed his spot back in the defence after an injury ruled out first choice left-back Danny Rose.
His side travel to Aston Villa in the League Cup this week before a mouth-watering Premier League clash against London rivals Chelsea on Saturday.
