Once Mesut Ozil's 42.5m transfer from Real Madrid was completed, there was much hype about how good he could possibly turn out to be for Arsenal.

And rightly so.

The German international has started brightly assisting in both Premier League games against Sunderland and Stoke City and no doubt he is already considered an Arsenal hero, but one cannot forget Aaron Ramsey.

The Welshman has entered the season in blistering fashion and has had the best start to his Arsenal career since signing for them in 2008.

His overwhelming influence hasn't been the case, especially since the horrific double fracture he sustained to his leg in 2010. At the time people wondered whether he would ever recover from the mishap.

As a result, Ramsey was loaned out to Nottingham Forest and Cardiff in order to gain match fitness and despite doing well in his short stints there, his Arsenal career wasn't quite the same once he returned.

Although he managed to score and assist a few goals, his performances weren't that of a top player playing at the top level and subsequently he was often criticised for being 'wasteful' in front of goal and on numerous occasions for giving the ball away.

The player seemed to lack in confidence due to having to carry the psychological burden which haunted and hindered him from performing to the standard everyone knew he was capable of.

But fortunately for Arsenal fans, the long wait is over and Ramsey has re-emerged with a bang. The midfielder is irrefutably in the form of his life and seems to be scoring at will. It is fair to say that at the moment he is Arsenal's star man.

Ramsay concedes that the emotional scars have taken longer to heal than the physical ones and hence the performance levels had dipped but that he never lost hope of getting back to his best one day.

"I never feared that I wouldn't return. I felt it was always there. I just needed to believe again and get that confidence." He was reported as saying.

"I had a lot of support from friends and family, and I had the trust that the manger put in me.

"All these things added up over a period of time. You have to keep believing and working hard, and it just clicks all of a sudden and you are full of confidence.

"We have gone on a fantastic run and, hopefully, we can continue that and I can continue my form."

Arsenal fans will be hoping for the same.

For me, if Ramsey can stay fit and plays at a consistently high level, he, alongside Ozil, can be the catalyst and driving force of the Gunners midfield who will look to bring back the glory days to the north London outfit.
