5. Paulinho v Cardiff
Lots of possession, not much penetration and a late goal. That was the strangely familiar tale of Spurs' narrow win against Cardiff but instead of Gareth Bale coming to rescue as he did so often last season, this time round it was the persistence and team-work of some of Spurs' new-boys that broke the deadlock.
David Marshall had kept Spurs at bay with a string of fine saves but there was little he could do as Lewis Holtby fed a finely weighted ball into the full-back channel for Erik Lamela to pick up and drive across goal, where Paulinho was waiting to delicately flick it into the net.
