For an outside bet, how about the Potters?
Mark Hughes is seeking redemption and early signs are he has got Stoke playing a more attractive style of football.
However, conceding from three set pieces on Sunday at Arsenal was very un-Stoke like, and Hughes will want to keep that central core of strength while improving City’s technical skills.
In the likes of Peter Crouch, Steven N’Zonzi, centre-back pairing Ryan Shawcross and Robert Huth and excellent keeper Asmir Begovic, Stoke have a team that can frighten any opponent, and a trip to Tranmere should not provide too many problems.
Hughes will hope to have City happily away from any relegation worries and with a plethora of winners medals from his playing days but nothing to show during his managerial career, ‘Sparky’ will have all the motivation he needs to finally lead a team to a trophy.
