Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has been dropped from the Australia national team squad due to his lack of action at Stamford Bridge.
The veteran goalkeeper, who is Australia's most-capped player, has not played a single competitive minute for Jose Mourinho's side since he moved from Fulham to Chelsea on a free transfer at the beginning of July.
Australia coach Holger Osieck has therefore decided to omit Schwarzer for his side's friendly matches against France in Paris and Canada at the 40-year-old's former stomping ground, Craven Cottage.
Schwarzer is however due to make his Chelsea debut against League One Swindon in Tuesday night's Capital One Cup encounter.
Despite the 40-year-old conceding six goals in his last appearance for Australia against Brazil, Osieck revealed that Schwarzer was still very much in his plans.
"I know what he can do. He's our number one goalkeeper," Osieck said. "But if I keep playing him, what about the others we may need?"
Osieck has instead decided to call up Dortmund's Mitchell Langerak and Mat Ryan of Belgian side Club Brugge.
