Juan Mata has accepted Jose Mourinho's criticism of him and is ready to prove his worth at Chelsea, according to the Daily Star.
The Portuguese tactician recently revealed that his preferred player to take up the No.10 role at Stamford Bridge was Oscar - not Mata.
The Spanish international failed to make Mourinho's squad as his side beat Fulham this past weekend, however sources close to the player have said that he's ready to work harder at the Blues.
The Spaniard believes that Mourinho has a fair point with his criticism as a source close to Mata revealed: "He is going to knuckle down and try harder.
"If he is given a chance, he will take it. He accepts Mourinho has a point, especially when his stats are compared to the likes of Oscar and Edin Hazard."
Mata could be in line for a recall as Chelsea travel to Swindon Town in the League Cup tonight and he will hope to start impressing his boss right from the off.
The Blues will be hoping to make it two consecutive wins after suffering three defeats on the bounce before the Fulham clash.
