Vlad Chiriches could make his Tottenham debut in tonight's Capital One Cup clash against Aston Villa.

The Romania international, who joined the north London outfit for around £8.5m, has been labelled a pacy and strong defender.

Many Spurs fans look forward to the prospect of seeing their new defender in action. The former Steaua Bucharest player joined the Lilywhites following the departure of promising youngster, Steven Caulker.

Aston Villa host Spurs in tonight's Capital One Cup third round encounter, which could see both sides resting their crucial players. Chiriches is widely expected to start today, most likely partnering Younes Kaboul.

Spurs have been the best defensive side in the Premier League this season, with only one goal scored against them. That said, Spurs have struggled to score goals this term.

The Romanian international could prove to be a goalscoring central defender, having drawn comparisons to David Luiz.
