Despite falling well short of the required mark last season, Manchester City remain a very potent force in English football. 

The end of the 2012/13 season heralded somewhat of a transitional period for the Citizens, in which the Roberto Mancini era was ushered out, along with plenty of deadwood, and the Manuel Pellegrini era was welcomed in, to the chimes of big-money signings and even bigger ambitions. 

It must be said that Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and even Tottenham will all be plotting their own routes to Premier League glory, but City trump them all in the areas where it matters.

Here's five reasons why the blue half of Manchester will be rejoicing for the second time in three years come the end of this campaign...
