Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade has some pretty powerful motivation to hit the ground running next season, according to CBS Sports.

Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kevin Durant called out the three-time NBA champion as the player he would remove from the Sports Illustrated Top 10 best guards in the league list - to be replaced by Durant's former-Thunder teammate James Harden.

Durant feels Harden is the "best guard in the league" currently, and in a video discovered on CineSport, the Thunder superstar said he'd chuck Wade out of the top 10 to make room for Harden.

That's led to a riposte from the Heat guard on the social media site Instagram. Wade posted a picture with text that read: "Kevin Durant said James Harden should replace him in the Top 10…Note to self* Make him respect you place in history…again…"

That wasn't the end of the social media stand-off though, as shortly after Wade's post, Durant wrote on his Twitter feed: "Show me don't tweet me."

Wade won his third NBA title last season, his second alongside LeBron James, but many felt it wasn't his best campaign on an individual level.

The nine-time All Star got the better of Durant during the 2012 Finals, and the Heat and Thunder are two of the favourites again for the top seeds in their respective East and West Conferences.

The Thunder and Heat play on January 29, 2014 and February 20, 2014 of this upcoming season.
