Laurent Koscielney's solid performances alongside Per Mertesacker at the end of last season was a major factor behind Arsenal securing fourth spot in the Premier League table ahead of rivals Tottenham.

But the French centre-back could soon be in danger of losing his first-team place to captain Thomas Vermaelen, who Arsene Wenger recently praised, after a shaky start to the 2013/14 Premier League campaign.

The 28-year-old was sent off on the opening weekend against Aston Villa, conceding a penalty moments beforehand, and then gave away another needless spot-kick in the Gunners' 3-1 win over Sunderland earlier this month.

He's better than that, and he must show it if he's to keep his place in the Arsenal XI.
