An angry Lionel Messi has broke his silence over the media lies after Tuesday's night victory over Real Sociedad.

Manager Gerardo Martino decided to bring Messi off in the 80th minute - when the result was 4-1 to Barca.

Spanish newspaper AS has since claimed Messi was unhappy when taken off and gestured toward his compatriot as he left the field.

This prompted Messi to take to Facebook to angrily deny the allegation.

“I didn't mean to make any gesture when Martino took me off,” began the Argentine.

“Nobody likes to come off, but we must accept it because it is the best for our team. What I will not accept is that certain media tell lies about any situation that happens around me.”

The last time Messi was subbed off uninjured was in 2010.

Yet back in August new manager Martino said: "I had already spoken to Messi about it. The season is very long with many games and he is intelligent and understands it is necessary.

"In an evenly-balanced match no one would take him off...but it is important to look after him and safeguard his fitness."
