Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes on-loan Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu has a big part to play this season.
Deulofeu signed for the Toffees on a season-long loan during the summer after impressing whilst playing for the Barcelona B team - where he scored 27 league goals in 68 appearances.
The Spain Under-21 international only has two Premier League minutes to his name this season but made his full Everton debut in the Capital One Cup match against Stevenage last month and celebrated this with his first goal for the club.
Despite his recent lack of league appearances Martinez has said the young Spaniard will get this chance.
"There's a big gap in terms of physicality between the English and Spanish leagues - it's a lot quicker here and there is a lot more contact, so for players who are artists with the ball like Gerard there will always be a period of adaptation," Martinez told Sky Sports.
"Gerard is doing that very well. He is making the difference when he is on the pitch. He is learning bit by bit, he is very quick and I am sure that in the next few months Gerard will play a very big part in this team."
Deulofeu completed the full 90 minutes against Fulham last night, again in the Capital One Cup.
The forward gained many plaudits during the game after showing glimpses of his Spanish-style talent.
But with the arrival of fellow loanee Romelu Lukaku into the Everton squad, Deulofeu faces further competition for a starting berth at Goodison Park.
