The Bavarian giants Bayern Munich won the much coveted treble last season - the first by any German team.

They have been the most consistent side in Germany alongside Borussia Dortmund in recent years. They now have five European titles to boast, only Real Madrid and AC Milan have been crowned champions more often than the die roten.

After making three Champions League finals in four years, they are on a hot-streak and will look to make the last four again this season.

In their homeland, Bayern are the most successful team, having won the league 22 times and still possess enough fire-power to stay on top many seasons to come.

"Not a single big team out there fears another team, so they will not fear Bayern either," Shaqiri was quoted as saying by Bild.

"There's no room for fear in the minds of Europe's best players. Every great player bans fear from his mind."

"Nobody goes onto the pitch thinking 'Oh no, we're playing against Bayern'. It's simply not like that. If anything, they will be even more motivated to beat the treble winners."

The Bavarians are also boosted by the addition of Pep Guardiola, who took over the reins from Jupp Heynckes, with certain expectations from the manager who led Barcelona to the treble in 2008/09 and a Champions League title in 2010/11.

Bayern also added the talented Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara to their already star-studded line-up of international players.

With UEFA Best Player 2013 Franck Ribery already in their ranks and the devastating Arjen Robben pacing up-and-down the flanks, it’ll be an uphill task for any defence to contain this Bayern side.
