Five most promising Premier League U20s (1)

Published 1 Comments

Everton manager Roberto Martinez was disappointed with losing their Capital One Cup clash with Fulham on Tuesday night, but he had one extreme positive to take away from the game.

The Toffees dominated in the first half and should have put the game to bed before the break, but only went in with a 1-0 lead – the home side rallied in the second to turn the game around.

It was a shame but that first half performance will have given Everton fans and Premier League watchers alike some encouragement over what is to come.

Gerard Deulofeu is on loan from Barcelona for the season and was sensational in the first half – Martinez was very positive about the young Spaniard after the game:

"There's a big gap in terms of physicality between the English and Spanish leagues - it's a lot quicker here and there is a lot more contact.

“So for players who are artists with the ball like Gerard there will always be a period of adaptation.

"Gerard is doing that very well. He is making the difference when he is on the pitch. "He is learning bit by bit, he is very quick and I am sure that in the next few months Gerard will play a very big part in this team."
