After a sloppy start to the new season Manchester City are now finding their way back to winning momentum.
After defeating Manchester United in a merciless 4-1 derby victory, Manuel Pellegrini's side continued their fine form against Wigan Athletic in the Capital One Cup.
Having made a great impact in the transfer window - splashing over £100million - all of Manchester City's summer signings like Fernandinho, Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo have made an instant impact at the Etihad Stadium, and now Stevan Jovetic has joined the party.
It was a £150million line-up that Pellegrini selected against a meagre £5million Wigan starting XI. Edin Dzeko opened the scoring, then Jovetic scored his first goal in City colours in the 60th minute, before adding another 23 minutes later.
Substitute Yaya Toure and Jesus Navas each scored to complete the 5-0 rout.
However, Jovetic’s performance was the silver lining for City and Pellegrini. The 23-year-old Montenegrin international has now opened his account for the club - and many more are likely to follow.
It was a beautiful display from Manchester City and they look in good shape as most of their players are in great form and many of them finding the net often.
With the array of strikers like Jovetic, Sergio Aguero, Negredo, Dzeko, and Samir Nasri all in good form, a goal flood is expected from every City clash.
City’s form has put an alert for the Premier League powerhouses Arsenal, Chelsea , Manchester United and they must raise their game to stay in the title race.
A brace was all Jovetic required to prepare himself well against the important international clash against England in a World Cup qualifier next month.
