France's Ligue 1 has taken the chance to fit in some additional league fixtures this week.

Week 7 kicked off with some impressive victories by Marseille and Lille, putting the pressure on money giants PSG and Monaco, who then recorded wins over Valenciennes and Bastia respectively.

Lille started the fixture with a 3-0 win against Evian. Kalou, Jesper Hansen (OG), and Rodelin were on the scoresheet and left the team near the Swiss border down in 11th place with eight points. Les Dogues after the final whistle blowed were sitting comfortably in second place, but they had to conform with a third place at the end of the day thanks to Marseille's victory later that day.

L'OM weren't going to slack off after Lille's win, and they certainly didn't after a 2-1 victory against a tough St Etienne side, no longer with Gabonese star Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

The now Borussia Dortmund striker was very much missed his week as St Etienne had zero presence in attack and a lacklustre performance by summer signing Mevlut Erdinç from Rennes was seen yesterday.

Erdinç has scored just one goal since playing for Les Verts and certainly needs some improving if St Etienne want to reach at least their position from last season (5th) and aim for European spots, which they normally do.

Marseille on the other hand have been in fantastic form since the new season started, signing Dimitri Payet from Lille was one of their best decisions of the summer, combining beautifully with Mathieu Valbuena skills and the rest of their players

Suddenly Elie Baup's side is developing a tiki-taka style after watching them pass the ball at a cohesive and fast pace to trouble defenders out back, that was seen yesterday at their 2-1 win at the Velodrome vs Les Verts, with Giannelli Imbula finishing it with a goal but previously forming a brilliant pass and run play by the whole side, making it 2-0 for them.

Benjamin Mendy scored the first one and Faouzi Ghoulam pulled one back for St Etienne from the spot.

Certainly Ligue 1 is a league you don't want to miss as many teams have pushed hard the money and contend Monaco and PSG for the 1st place in Le Championnat.
