Manchester United defender 'dreaming' of Brazil recall

Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva is dreaming of playing in next summer's World Cup in Brazil, according to his agent.

The 23-year-old full-back continues to be overlooked by Brazil national team boss Luiz Felipe Scolari - despite being an established member of Manchester United's team.

Rafael was a regular for Brazil at youth level but has only made two senior appearances for the Selecao.

The Manchester United star last appeared for Brazil in the 2012 Olympics when Rafael's mistake led to Mexico winning gold in the final.

Rafael has since fallen behind Barcelona star Dani Alves and Roma's Maicon in the race to start at right-back in Rio.

However Rafael has not given up on the prospect of making Scolari's squad for next summer's World Cup.

His agent, who recently denied speculation linking Brazilian side Corinthians with a move for his client, said on Rafael's World Cup prospects: "He dreams of playing in the World Cup, I've got no doubt about that.

"I don't understand why he hasn't been chosen by Scolari."

"Because of one second, a player doesn't get another chance?

"Rafael is an exemplary player... they placed all the responsibility on him but a game lasts 90 minutes.

"It was an injustice."
