Goalkeeper suffers facial injury after sickening collision

Published Add your comment

There were scenes far more reminiscent of a gory horror flick during a fixture in the Swiss Raiffeisen Super League last night.

In a keenly-anticipated clash between FC Luzern and title hopefuls Grasshopper at Swissporarena, home goalkeeper David Zibung suffered a shocking facial injury after a horrendous collision with visiting midfielder Izet Hajrovic.

With the score already at 0-2, Zibung showed admirable bravery to prevent his side from conceding again but unfortunately only received a massively painful face full of studs for his troubles.

It's safe to say that the 29-year-old was in no fit state to continue with blood pouring from a sizeable gash and he was swiftly replaced by Lorenzo Bucchi with 14 minutes of normal time remaining.

The match eventually finished 2-0 to Grasshopper, with Michael Skibbe's men now occupying second place in the table after amassing 18 points from their first eight fixtures.

Watch footage of the sickening collision above. Be warned, it is certainly not for the squeamish or faint-hearted...
