Eden Hazard struggling under Mourinho

Eden Hazard was one of Chelsea's most creative sparks last season, alongside teammate Juan Mata.

But after impressing during the Blues' pre-season program, the Belgian has stuttered domestically and with five games done and dusted, Hazard has managed to produce just a single assist so far.

Having racked up nine goals and 16 assists in his debut season in the Premer League, many had anticipated Hazard to step up another level under the guidance of Jose Mourinho.

This hasn't been the case, at least up till now.

Hazard definitely has the ability to influence a game just like Oscar and Mata do but since Mourinho's return, he has been given the assignment of doing a lot of tracking back and this could be affecting his offensive game.

If Hazard is to keep developing as an individual as well as to the benefit of the team, it is indispensable for Mourinho to let him play the way he knows and allocate the defensive duties to someone else.

In spite of the fact that the season is still relatively young, it could be a worrying sign if his performances keep deteriorating.

Having said that, Hazard might be just experiencing a temporary blip and will be looking to shake that off in the next game against Tottenham Hotspur.
