Aston Villa's new man Libor Kozak is ready to step up his game in the absence of last year's top scorer Christian Benteke and is confident he can still find his best form.

Benteke is out injured for up to six weeks, and the former Lazio striker Kozak is ready to fill the void left by the big Belgian.

"It's definitely a good start as it would have been worse if I had to wait (for the first goal)," Kozak said.

"It's fine that I scored but now it's even more important to build on that."

"Coach Lambert praised me after the match but I have to show a lot from my abilites yet."

"First of all I need to adapt myself because it's a lot different to Italy. I am far from my ideal form."

"But it's going to take some time yet, though I have a good feeling."

The 6ft 4in hitman was the Europa League's top scorer last season with an incredible eight goals for Lazio, but he was used sporadically in Serie A and failed to find the net.

Villa boss Paul Lambert will be hoping the towering Czech forward can build on his first goal and help fire his team to victory at the weekend.

Aston Villa face a difficult trip to Manchester City on Saturday and Kozak is looking for his team mates to build on the win against Norwich.

"Now we have a tough match against Manchester City on Saturday, so we need to stop thinking about Norwich and look forward, try to confirm that win," he added.

"I would be very glad if I could start and enjoy the atmosphere on the pitch. Motivation is huge, it's a massive game, so hopefully we can do well."

Meanwhile, Lambert took time to speak to the club website about the situation with his other star striker, Christian Benteke.

"It's not as bad as we feared it was going to be," he told the club's official website.

"It's maybe four, five, six weeks or so."

"You have that international break which certainly helps us."

Lambert will however be hoping that some of his crocked stars will be returning to action sooner rather than later, with Gabby Agbonlahor, Ashley Westwood, Gary Gardner Charles N’Zogbia and Jores Okore all out for the time-being.
