Manchester United bounced back from Sunday's 4-1 defeat by local rivals Manchester City with a morale-boosting 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the Capital One Cup third round.

It was a result which delighted the Old Trafford faithful and manager David Moyes, who probably felt more relief than anything when the final whistle was blown.

The United boss finally got the chance to play some of those players on the fringes of the first team - and would have learned some valuable lessons as a result.

Here are five things we all learned after Wednesday night's match at Old Trafford.
