Top five: Sporting comebacks (1)

Published Add your comment

Oracle Team USA completed one of the most remarkable comebacks in sport on Wednesday when they beat Team New Zealand in the America's Cup decider in San Francisco.

With Sir Ben Ainslie on board as tactician, the American defenders won the first-to-nine series after being 8-1 down and just minutes away from losing it last week.

With eight consecutive race wins Team USA recorded what is, undeniably, one of sport's greatest comeback stories. But is it the best? What other event, if any, eclipses this as the greatest sporting comeback?

From Istanbul to Leeds, Chicago to Sheffield, sport has seen its share of extraordinary revivals.

Here are five other candidates to compare with events in San Francisco Bay on Wednesday.

Let us know in the comments section what you think is the greatest sporting comeback.
