The current era has seen a surge in the number of talented midfielders coming up in the game. Many teams have more than a few of these talents, thus leading the way in the modern football.

These midfielders together boss the midfield, and are the reason behind their team's success. Here we look at the top five midfields of Europe in the current time.

5) Chelsea

Midfield quartet : Juan Mata, Oscar, Frank Lampard, Eden Hazard

Chelsea boast a good midfield consisting of both experience and talent. Lampard provides experience, Mata the control, Oscar the vision and Hazard the versatility. Together they form a midfield which is very hard to control.

4) Arsenal

Midfield quartet : Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Mikel Arteta , Jack Wilshere

Arsenal have the best midfield in England. Cazorla is a pass master, Ozil is the assist king, Arteta is the midfield dominator and Wilshere is the talent every team wants. Together these four form the core of Arsenal's midfield - the thing which make Arsenal such a threat.

3) Bayern Munich 

Midfield quartet : Mario Gotze, Thomas Muller, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Javi Martinez

The reason behind Bayern's recent success is the class they have in their midfield. Schweinsteiger and Martinez form the best defending midfield pair at club level, Gotze is one of the most talented young midfielders around while Muller is a great attacking threat. Together they form a threat to any team in the world.

2) Real Madrid

Midfield quartet : Isco, Gareth Bale, Xabi Alonso, Angel Di Maria

Real Madrid have a midfield powerhouse. They have a midfield capable of great things. Isco has the vision, Bale has the eye for goal, Di Maria the pace and Xavi Alonso is a great play-maker. Undoubtedly, Madrid have one of the leading midfield in the world, second only to their rivals.

1) Barcelona

Midfield quartet : Xavi Hernandez, Andreas Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, Sergio Busquets

No surprises here, Barcelona without any doubt own the best midfield in the world. Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas are 3 of the best playmakers of the modern era, while Busquets is a great defensive midfielder. Together they are a reason for both Barcelona's success and for Lionel Messi's great goals. Another thing which makes them stand out is that they play together day in and day out, not only for Barcelona but also for Spain.
