New England Patriots superstar Tom Brady has revealed that Matt Cassel could be the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings in their match with the Pittsburgh Stealers on Sunday.
The Vikings face the Stealers at Wembley Stadium in London in week four of the NFL season and may hand a start to Cassl, says Brady, with current No.1 QB Christian Ponder struggling with a rib problem.
Ponder suffered the problem early on in the defeat to the Cleveland Browns last weekend and is a doubt ahead of the Stealers game, leading to Cassel throwing an increased number of repetitions in practice.
Although the Vikings have yet to officially confirm that Cassel will be their man come the this Sunday, Brady has been speaking to his former back-up at the Patriots, and has been given an indication he will face the stealers.
Brady told CBS Sports: "Matt Cassel, I talk to -- he may be starting this weekend."
The Vikings are 0-3 after defeat to the Browns along with the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions, so Cassel will be tasked with inspiring a turnaround in the franchise's season.
They do, however, meet a side with the same record as them so far, with the Stealers also having lost all of their three matches this season.
