The second term of Jose Mourinho for Chelsea FC has been drastically different than the first thus far.
Mourinho is famous for stirring up controversy in the conference room with his seemingly insane analogies, harsh words, and unforgiving conduct towards players and fellow coaches, but now he's wrapped up in field issues.
Mainly, the question of who to play through the midfield. This issue revolves around his choices for players within the midfield as the Chelsea footballer of the 2012/13 season is limited to very little time on the field under Mourinho's new regime.
Mourinho is a coach who likes to place his stamp on teams, which should come as no surprise since he has previously bestowed the name "Special One" to himself, but this issue goes deeper for Chelsea supporters.
Mourinho has been quoted recently in a Sky Sports interview with Jaime Redknapp saying: "Chelsea manager is Jose Mourinho, not Jaime Redknapp."
This followed a question from Redknapp that was in reference to his choice to not go with Juan Mata. Mourinho seemed threatened by this question and snapped back to defend his choice of Oscar by saying" "Oscar as a number 10 is a player who gives us creativity, but at the same time, when we want to press up, Oscar is a runner and he is a player capable of pressing".
This is a dig at Mata's lack of pace on the defensive side of the ball, and something Mata must improve before Mourinho gives him the chances to play in the position he has thrived at for the past two years with the Blues.
The Blues were led by Mata throughout the past two seasons, and fans have a sense of loyalty to defend someone who is so loved by all the Chelsea faithful. While it is difficult to see such a talent, and integral part of Chelsea's success sit on the sidelines at the moment, Mourinho is to be trusted.
He has proven success, and is currently trying to build a stronger, more pace-minded attack for Chelsea to dominate competitors with.
The talented youth on the current squad is a recipe for success, and if anyone can bring it all together, it's the "Special One".
