Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa has gone one better than Aston Villa's Nicklas Helenius during a La Liga game against Osasuna.

Helenius was at the centre of what was being described as 'pants gate' when video's emerged of Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen pulling the Danish striker shorts down in their Capital One Cup third round tie.

Costa, who was signed from Sporting Braga in 2007 for €3.5million, was in possession when a miss timed slide tackle brought sent him sliding across the turf, subsequently revealing his bare bottom.

The 24-year-old striker, who is joint top goal scorer alongside Barcelona's Lionel Messi, was in action at the Vincente Calderon and scored both of Atletico's goals in their 2-1 victory on Tuesday.

The win extended Madrid's 100% start to the campaign and marked the best start in the club's history ahead of the derby against Real Madrid, which takes place at the weekend.
