Throughout their illustrious history, La Liga giants Real Madrid have often boasted the very best talent that world football has to offer.

As one of the world's most prestigious clubs, Los Blancos' trophy cabinet has subsequently never been short of a trophy or two.

Although they have always possessed quality footballers, under the stewardship of current club president Florentino Perez Real have embarked upon their infamous 'Galactico' strategy.

This policy typically involves Real bringing one of the world's top talents to the club each summer, with seemingly scant regard for the desire of coaches or indeed their own finances.

The most famous 'Galacticos' have included the likes of Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and Roberto Carlos, while former Tottenham sensation Gareth Bale became the latest member of that exclusive club after arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu for a world-record fee of £85 million this summer.

Here, GMS looks at five players who could keep the 'Galactico' tradition alive in the future if their current clubs can be persuaded to part with their prize assets.
