Top five: Premier League second string XIs (2)

Published 5 Comments

5. Arsenal

Last Premier League XI: Szczesny Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Wilshere, Ozil, Ramsey, Flamini, Gnabry, Giroud

Second string XI: Viviano, Vermaelen, Monreal, Jenkinson, Bellerin, Arteta, Miyaichi, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky, Bendtner, Podolski

Arsenal have a fairly strong second string XI but the defence could struggle. Club-captain Thomas Vermaelen would certainly have to use his leadership skills helping out his defensive partners.

However, with the quality of Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky and Arteta in midfield, the Gunners would have no problem battling it out against other sides.

In attack they could have winger turn-striker in Lukas Podolski, who's currently injured but doesn't always find himself in the north London outfits starting XI. Partnering the German, Wenger would have hit and miss striker Nicklas Bendtner.

I'm sure this side would score goals, but concede a few while their at it.

Theo Walcott has been left out as would usually be a regular starter.
