Former England boss Glenn Hoddle believes the national side will only improve if they continue to find players in the same category to Jack Wilshere, reports talkSPORT.
England have come in for criticism in the past for not keeping the ball well enough, and Hoddle has insisted that Wilshere is the type of player the country needs.
The Arsenal midfielder is now a key member of the national team and looks set to play an important role in Roy Hodgson's sides crunch qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland next month.
And, when looking at the future of the national side, Hoddle told talkSPORT: "The number one criteria should be how we master the ball. It’s very simple and coaching should all revolve around that.
"If that happens we can change new generations. We need ten Wilsheres, we need ten types of that type of player.
"We have always been capable of bringing through one or two, but look at Belgium, look at the Spanish.
"That’s the goal for everyone in football, whether you’re inside the FA or outside."
England's qualification chances are in their own hands as two wins from their final fixtures will see the Three Lions qualify for next year's World Cup in Brazil.
And, English fans will be hoping that Arsenal's midfield star can stay fit for his country and lead them to another major tournament.
